How to start hosting

Take photos of your home

For short-term rentals, captivating photos are essential. They’re your best tool for attracting guests—poor photos can lead to fewer bookings or lower rates. Consider investing in a professional photographer; it’s an upfront cost that often pays off with more bookings. We work with skilled photographers offering competitive rates—contact us for recommendations. Alternatively, if you prefer DIY, follow our guidelines for capturing clean, well-lit images. Click here for helpful tips on making your photos stand out. These steps will help guests visualize their stay and enhance your booking potential.

Prepare TWO labeled key sets

Self check-in allows hosts to provide great hospitality even while social distancing.
Think about guest, cleaning teams and backup: two sets of keys are necessary for our teams to run operational tasks timely & smoothly.
Please label the keys with the following info (this will help that a key is returned if lost): If you find this key, please write host@airhosted.ch. 50 CHF finders fee!

Install TWO lockboxes

To ensure that your guests can check-in at all times we use lockboxes for the mentioned keys. They are easily installed and proven to be safe and handy. Second lockbox is needed as a backup to always have access to your property. Here are some suggestions on the lockbox models: Master Lock Select Access 5403EURD (without a handle, for mailbox or wall mount) and Master Lock Schlüsselsafe 5400EURD (with a handle, for railings or chains).

Check the kitchen utensils & empty your refrigerator

Guests who chose to rent a home instead of a hotel want to receive a 100% homey experience. Make sure your kitchen has all necessities for cooking and eating based on the amount of guests you plan to host (we suggest keeping few additional items in case of damage).

All personal items, such as food & alcohol should be stored away during your absence. Everything you want the guests to use can stay (i.e. sauces and things that do not expire quickly).
Basic cooking ingredients such as spices, cooking oil etc. should be kept in the kitchen for the guests.

Book the first cleaning

We want your place to stand out for future guests and get positive reviews. Any personal belongings you wish to hide can be stored in a locked cabinet or a cellar. Don’t worry about the linens or towels, our cleaning team will bring everything during this first visit (unless discussed otherwise).

Craft a Comprehensive Description of Your Home

Your detailed property description is essential for effective advertising on booking platforms. Who knows your home better than you? Please take a moment to gather all the information, highlighting both your home’s strengths and areas you may find less appealing. This honest approach helps us present your property in the best possible light, ensuring potential guests receive an accurate depiction. Describe each room thoroughly, emphasizing key features, and don’t forget to include any imperfections— transparent communication is appreciated by guests. Rest assured, we will handle how it looks on the booking platform, focusing on optimizing your listing to achieve the desired outcome.
